The Great Hanshin Earthquake occurred in 1995 in the Kobe region and modified in a couple of minute the entire structure of the city killing approximately 6000 people.Ryuji Miyamoto did a series of photographs of the post-apocalyptic Kobe completing thus his theme of Architecture of destruction started with the destruction of the Kowloon Walled City and Hans Poelzig's Grosses Schauspielhaus' death in Berlin.
I definitely recommend his photographs books even though they become pretty rare to find them...
